Over at my writer-friend Erin Shakespeare's blog she asked if anyone ever finds and uses pictures of the characters in their stories. Yes, I've done this before. In fact, I have a few pictures of my characters for one of my stories called "Mystic Mound." I imagine the two main girl characters being a little bit gothic, and the main guy character is Native American. So in case you're interested, this is how I imagine these characters look:
This is my main character, Mindy:
This is Mindy's best friend, Krista:
And this is Damon, one of the main guy characters:
Having these photos helps me to picture the characters and describe them better, although my vision of them isn't exactly like the photos, but close. How about you? Do you have pictures of the characters in your stories?
Hmmm...funny. I've ALWAYS thought about using pictures for my characters, but when the time comes, I don't do it! Sometimes I forget, and other times I prefer just to get writing. :) But someday I will. Nice pics, btw! ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to do. I just google images.
DeleteI love doing this! Sometimes I get too lost in my words, so it's nice to have some visual inspiration for a change!
ReplyDeleteI saw on your blog that you do this with computer animated characters. I'd like ot learn how to do that cuz sometimes I can't find the right picture for my characters.
DeleteI tried to create a picture of Enna, but the hair is all wrong and I can't do it full face. I wish I could get a good modeling program for the purpose.
ReplyDeleteGo to Samantha's blog above. She does computer animated characters. I'm not sure how, but she could probably tell you.
DeleteYes, I use pictures to help me with character description as well. I always feel strange though googling/researching images of different models haha.
