New Years Resolutions and New Jeans

Usually I don't even come close to fulfilling my resolutions for the year because they're so far out of my reach. Last year I didn't even make any resolutions so I wouldn't have to feel bad if I didn't accomplish them. This year I tried to make fewer goals and make them more attainable. Maybe I made them too easy, cuz so far I've fulfilled several of them.

1. Enter my African Snow White novel, Kala of the Kongo, in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel contest. Check.

2. Do a cleansing diet for one month in January and lose 10 lbs. Check.

(Hurray! Time to celebrate with a new pair of jeans. Hmm, which one should I choose?)

3. Put music to some poems for a writing contest awards gala in April. Check.

4. Revise Mystic Mound, my modern-day Beauty and the Beast novel. I'm making slow but steady progress.

How about you? How are your new years resolutions coming? And what are your rewards for completing them?

I have been faithfully running and exercising to get ready for a half marathon I signed up for. Still not sure I'll be ready. :)

    1. Thanks Erin, but don't be too impressed. I love writing and exercising, but let a lot of other things go that need to be done. I know you accomplish a lot in a day with all your writing and crafts and the fun things you do with your kids. You're amaziing!

    1. Great job. It's good to give and get encouragement from other authors in the same boat. Best of luck with querying and your first draft (I hope they aren't as hard for you as they are for me.) Let me know if you get any bites from agents.

    1. Thanks. I have yet to see if I'll accomplish anything after January. Usually I'm really dedicated for the first month of my goals and then I lose steam!

  6. Congrats! Jealous of the new jeans...that's one of my goals I'm not doing so well on. But working on it. Finished the novel, and that was the big one. Now on to the next!

  7. Good for you! I entered my vampire satire into the Amazon contest. I'm really not hoping to win; if I advance far enough, I can get some editorial feedback.

Oh I do hope you got yourself a lovely pair of jeans too!

I reward myself for getting through the day unscathed by treating myself to chocolate! Yay!

      Take care

    3. Hi, nice to meet you too. Thanks for the encouragement. I have more goals, those are just the ones I've worked on so far. I did get myself a new pair of jeans and love them! Chocolate is a great reward! It's just not on my daily diet, but once a week, yes!
